History of MFGA
Moncton Fish & Game Association Inc. was established in 1924 primarily as a group of hunters and anglers who wanted to lobby the government of the day with respect to hunting and fishing laws related to harvest, conservation, and protection. Other associations around the province were doing similar lobbying. Today, the New Brunswick Wildlife Federation (NBWF) is the main lobby group to which the MF&GA is an affiliate. The NBWF represents in excess of 20 fish and game associations across the province. The MFGA was formally incorporated in 1981 and today, we still lobby government through the NBWF however, we are also becoming much more involved in our local community. We welcome anglers, hunters, target shooters and all individuals who may participate in related areas of outdoor pursuits and activities.
Our annual Sportsman Dinner, held in late November, is our major fund-raising event that allows us to undertake our various projects. We are always looking for individuals who want to volunteer their time, and companies and businesses who would like to donate prizes for the popular and well attended event.
